Crockpot Missisippi Pot Roast

Video below on making this ‘if you don’t know, you should find out’ dish

Friends, I am calling this the either you do or you don't know recipe. Because after I was told about this, I realized that most people know about this, there are few that do not (although, I was one of those few), but there was nowhere in-between. And hear me out, if you know, you know, as the saying goes. And if you don't know, trust me, you want to know.

 Ingredients/Recipe:

  • 2.5 to 3 lb. roast- I recommend a chuck roast as it shreds very nicely

  • 1 packet of dry ranch dressing seasoning

  • 1 packet of dry brown gravy mix

  • 4 tbsp of butter

  • A good handful or so (that’s a real measurement) of pepperoncinis or banana peppers

 Putting it Together:

Place the roast in the crockpot and season it with the ranch seasoning and the brown gravy mix. Then, load the top of the roast up with the peppers, and, if you are looking for a walk on the wild side, throw some of the juice from the jar of peppers in there, too. Then, cube up the 4 tbps of butter, and lay them over the top of the roast. Set your slow cooker on low for 6 hours.

Serving

This roast is so fantastically juicy, you could honestly eat it on it's own, which would allow you to put every eating effort into the meat. However, I also highly recommend serving with mashed potatoes (visit https://www.myloadofcrock.com/recipes/cream-cheese-mashed-potatoes-in-the-crockpot for my cream cheese mashed potato recipe) as the juice that is in the crockpot makes an absolutely delicious gravy, for both the meat and a heaping pile of mashed potatoes.

 Load of Crock Tip(s):

  • My crockpot automatically moves to warm when the time is up- if yours does as well, don't be afraid to be away from the cooking for more than the allotted 6 hours, as sitting on warm for longer, in my experience with making this, only made it even juicier!

  • The 2.5-3 lb. roast will serve 4-6 people, but do not fear going larger, as the leftovers are equally as juicy the next day…it's true. And magical.

  • This is a perfect set it and forget it dish!

 So, while I wasn't one of the many who were in the know on this one, I am so glad that I am now. For sure a top favorite of mine, and it was a hit for the whole family, which is always an added bonus! So, for those of you who already knew about this, a quick plug from someone who did not- tell more people! And for those who were with me and didn't know, please get educated, I promise neither you nor your taste buds, will regret it.
