Crock Pot Stuffing Casserole

Thanksgiving is upon us! I love Thanksgiving, especially the side dishes, and while thumbing through my recipe box, I found an oven recipe from forever ago, from my mom. And get this. It was ON a recipe card. And. In cursive. (GASP!) So, I thought I would give it a try in the crock pot, and guess what? It worked! So, I give you this stuffing (or, as is on my mom's recipe card, dressing) casserole, in the crock pot!

 Ingredients/Recipe:

  • 1, 12 oz bag of stuffing (whatever your favorite kind may be)

  • 2 cans of mixed vegetables

  • 2 cans of cream of chicken soup

  • 1, 14.5 oz can of chicken broth

  • 1 stick of butter (melted)

  • 1/2 C of milk

 Putting it Together:

In one bowl, add the stuffing, can of chicken broth, and the stick of butter, melted. Mix all together so the stuffing is well coated with the broth and melted butter.

 In another bowl, add the cream of chicken, the mixed vegetables (drain one can and leave the other can undrained), and the milk, and mix all together. Also in here, add any flavorings/spices you may like such as salt, pepper, onion, garlic, etc.

 Grab your crock pot and at the bottom, add in half of the stuffing mixture. Then, pour in the cream of chicken soup mixture over this. Finally, add the rest of the stuffing mix over the top.

 Place on high for 3 hours, and then let sit on warm for 20-30 minutes.

 Serving

This is great fresh out of the slow cooker, and is a great side for any meal, but of course, Thanksgiving being the highest on that list. I also ate as a leftover, and it was really great!

 Load of Crock Tip(s):

  • The original recipe from my mom is a chicken stuffing (dressing) casserole, so if you want to add chicken, shred up 2 cups of cooked chicken and add into the cream of chicken soup layer.

  • If you do make this for Thanksgiving and have as a leftover, and happen to also have turkey leftover, adding some turkey into this, along with a little more broth, and reheating is an excellent option.

  • Our slow cooker liners are perfect for this dish, reducing clean up and once cooled, allow you to pull the liner out of the crock, and simply dump the leftovers into their container. Or, if you are wanting to move the dish to a serving bowl for the big gathering, super easy to pull out and transfer for that, too!

 So, now I say, go find a good recipe card, in cursive, and give it a try! And if you need help reading the cursive, don’t ask me, I am only 25, and they stopped teaching that in school when I was like a baby. I kid, I joke. I am of course, 27.
