Mississippi Meatballs

Video below on how to make this Mississippi creation

For those of you who have been around for a minute, you may remember last year, my mind was blown when I was told about/it was assumed by others that I knew about a recipe called 'Mississippi pot roast' as it seemed everyone knew what it was, except me. So, I tried it, and it was absolutely delicious. Seriously. A staple in our house since this time. So, I thought this has to be good with other types of meats, right? Yes. Correct. So, I give you, Mississippi meatballs!

Ingredients/Recipe:

  • 1 bag of your favorite frozen meatballs (I am a Simek's girl)

  • 1 packet of dry brown gravy mix

  • 1 packet of dry Ranch seasoning

  • A good handful of banana peppers or pepperoncinis

  • 4 tbsp. of butter

Putting it Together:

Put the meatballs in the slow cooker, then pour some juice from the jar of banana peppers or pepperocinis over the top. Then, add the packets of gravy mix and Ranch seasoning, put a handful of the peppers in, and then give it all a good mix. Finally, cube up the butter, and put the cubes over the top of the meatballs, and place your crock pot on low for 2 hours.

Serving

You can eat these immediately, or put your crock on warm and eat later. These are perfect as an appetizer, or as a main dish, serving with potatoes and a vegetable.

Load of Crock Tip(s):

  • As noted in serving, these are perfect alone, and also as a main dish, making it a super easy week night meal option.

  • If you have a big group and do two bags of meatballs, add a bit more of the banana pepper juice and increase the butter to 6-8 tbsp. to ensure appropriate amount of liquid while these cook.

  • As a leftover, make a meatball sub! Get some french bread, throw it in the oven at 350 for about 5 minutes to crisp it up, then add the meatballs and some provolone cheese, put it back in the oven until the cheese is nicely melted, and enjoy! Throw some of the banana peppers on it if you want to get crazy.

  • Our slow cooker liners are perfect for this dish, reducing clean up and once cooled, allow you to pull the liner out of the crock, and pour any leftovers into a container, removing the step of scooping everything out once it has cooled.

A fun and easy twist to your every day meatball! So now, I am the one saying to others, "You know about Mississippi meatballs, right?" Enjoy!
